"Aka Maroiroi” (To be brave enough) Created as part of the Tātai Honga Carving Symposium 2024 Rarotonga Contemplation of the great Pacific migration from Raiatea to Aotearoa. The idea of an unknown future. Leaving a place that is known and understood, and embarking on an unknown voyage to a new horizon. To create a new future, a new life with new understanding. Our current place, this moment in time, is defined by the way we contemplate/interpret our past. Our future is what we choose to take forward with us. The past is never a sentence, but lessons. The present is a place of being, with moments of peace. The future shouldn't be one of fear but an uncharted unknown adventure. A future greater than self.
